The Ride of the Rohirrim is a blog meant to discuss the many issues facing the modern world, including religious issues, politics, and general day-to-day life. I am a traditional Catholic who regularly attends the Traditional Latin Mass in Fresno. I am an alumnus of Santa Clara University with two bachelors degrees, one in Psychology and one in my true passion, Classics. I am now an intern teacher in Lemoore, California, where I teach seventh grade English. In this blog, I am mostly concerned with how to live as a Catholic, particularly a traditional Catholic, in the modern world.
I am a convert to the Faith, my family is non-religious and I had to find my way through a great many trials to become a Catholic. Most of the guidance I recieved along the way came from books rather than living people, so I count J.R.R. Tolkien, St. Thomas Aquinas, and my readings about and visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Knock as my primary influences in coming to Catholicism. I am engaged to the most beautiful woman in the world, my love, Catherine. I met her on CatholicMatch, which I thus recommend to anyone who might be looking to meet a good Catholic to potentially marry.
Particular interests of mine currently which I plan to blog about are the Traditional Latin Mass, in particular the new Latin Mass oratory in Santa Clara, Our Mother of Perpetual Help , and the Latin Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Fresno; St. Augustine (about whom I wrote a senior thesis paper); how society could be improved; everyday joys and hardships of life as a serious Catholic in the modern world, and of course the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Thank you for reading my blog, I appreciate your interest and hope to provide interesting content that will keep you coming back.

Ooh, this is a different sort of myspace. I hope you will put me in your top eight. I have some great pictures on my page. By the way, do you know what’s funny?
Very interesting blog, interesting title. I have read the LoR more times than I can count, beginning when I was 12. I am a cradle Catholic and am astonished at how many people have met the Church through Tolkien. He is partially the reason I entered academia.
Nice to see this site and glad you are keeping well.Every good wish to Catherine.Keep in touch.
God Bless,
Robert Lane
